Advocacy

EILER recognizes the need to actively participate in the social process by initiating or joining initiatives for labor advocacy. As a logical extension of its education and research work, the institution’s advocacy involvements primarily reflect labor’s sectoral demands regarding wages, jobs, livelihood and democratic rights. It also includes broader economic, social and political concerns that impact directly or indirectly on the sector such as land reform, climate change, governance and elections, peace negotiations and human rights. Some of our more advocacies have been:

  • End contractualization and unfair labor practices campaigns
  • P750 national minimum wage campaigns, 2015-present
  • Campaign against child labor, 2013-presents
  • Voter’s education and anti-fraud monitoring (WE-Watch), 2010, 2013 and 2016
  • International Labor Solidarity Movement (ILSM) fact-finding mission, 2006
  • Anti-outsourcing in banks campaign, 2008-present
  • Anti-informalization of labor campaign , 2008-present
  • Justice for Hacienda Luisita Massacre victims, 2004-present
  • P125 Across-the-board wage increase campaigns, 1999-present
